When I place the watch in standalone mode by turning off the Bluetooth connection from my phone and make a phone call or text the watch rapidly heats up. I receive an onscreen warning that the watch is entering a cooling mode and then drops into airplane mode until it cools off. Once it cools off sufficiently the watch resumes normal operation
